Dr. Hazel Spears is a licensed Practitioner of Religious Science who earnestly began her spiritual pursuits as a Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist in Los Angeles in the early 80’s, seeking a life beyond that which meets the eye. A chance, yet destined, conversation led her to Founder’s Church of Religious Science, and the spiritual teaching that resonated through every part of her being.
Dr. Spears teaches Psychology at Cheyney University, a Historically Black University (HBCU) near Granite Run, PA. There she is delighted to share the numerous and natural connections between our psychological and spiritual lives, in discussions of Learned Helplessness, Self-fulfilling Prophecy, Self-handicapping, Fixed vs Growth mindsets, and numerous other theories that affirm the energy-based universe in which we exist.
She is a member of The Center of Peace, a CSL organization in Philadelphia, where she is one of the Youth teachers, practices and shares her grandmother’s baking, and joyfully pursues her spiritual growth amongst other evolved and loving beings.
